Hour of Code

Coding Experience

Last week we did hour of code which was to instruct an object or thing to move. There were different tutorials that could be done. I find it very interesting because it was something new to do with technology and I personally am interested in technology.

I completed two tutorials. One called "Angry Birds" and the other, "JavaScript". This Web design class has help me to complete the JavaScript because we had done it the week before which made it very easier for it to be done. After completing the tutorials you received a certificate for each which states that you have completed a hour of code.

11/15 Learning Reflection

What I learned and What I Have Done

Last week we worked with Photoshop. I have not worked much with this software before this class but I find it very interesting that you can edit pictures and make changes to photos and create your own images. I learned how to create a banner which is very cool the way that you can add a picture to your banner and soften it to the background which gives it the effect that it was there.
I also learned that the only way your Photoshop image can show on the web is to save for the web. We then uploaded the banner to our wiki pages.

11/08 Learning Reflection

What I have learned and obstacles

We have been working on the code academy website lately. This helps you to learn how to create a website and the different tags that there are in a website in order to have a well organised and functioning website. I personally think that some of the ways that this website shows you is kind of confusing. This is because many people have ran into certain problems when going through the process. The way we did it when we were creating our own without this site was different so some thing like adding links or pictures were not caught on right away.
Nevertheless, I believe that it is necessary to learn different ways because your way will not always work.

Blog Post6: Podcast

Podcast: Compare and Contrast

These podcast are professionally done. The speakers who are Kate kiefer Lee and Paul Boag made sure the enunciate their words correctly.
Kate spoke about voice and tone when speaking and the voice was very clear on the podcast. You can understand everything she said. Her sense of humor was always something she used to make her speech entertaining.

9/26/13: Learning Reflection

My Blogging Experience

Blogging is a good way of keeping record of what you have learned in my web design class. I think this is a very good way of allowing children to improve their computer skills.
I have came to some times where I had difficulties. Adding gadgets to my blog gave me problems at first but I have learned how to add a podcast to my blog.
I was seeking help at first to upload my podcast because the instructions were not clear but then I researched it myself and got to make my archive account to upload the mp 3 file to that account and then I got help to upload it as a post onto my blog. I also added another gadget which is a map with the flag of Guyana; map of where I am from.

Blog Post5: What I know about web design

What I consider to be web design

Personally I have not done web design before but I have an idea of what it is. Web design is generally working with the online. It is a skill of creating presentations using the world wide web.
I hope to learn how to create website for future references so that when I have my own business someday i can make my own and also to find more ways to communicate with people online.

Blog Post4: Netiquette

Netiquette

Netiquette is the correct or acceptable way of communicating on the Internet. It is important to have good netiquette in order to have a good reputation online. If you have a good netiquette people will find you interesting in a positive way.
Areas in where you have good netiquette are; speaking positively and appropriately, viewing appropriate thing etc.
I have considerably good netiquette because I think about who is positive to communicate with online.

Blog Post3: Positive Digital Footprint

Positive Digital Footprint and its importance

Digital Footprint is the trail of digital interactions, such as, what as been clicked on or viewed on the web.

The importance of positive digital footprint is to have an appropriate reputation of what you view and click on when you are connected on the internet/world wide web. What you view online shows the type of person you are or your curiosity on what you are interested in.

My digital footprint can be improved by viewing more educational aspects of the internet and be careful of what I click on. It matters who I am associated with online because it can determine my safety or it can help build my network for future jobs.

Blog Post2: Academic Integrity and Plagiarism

What is Academic integrity and

plagiarism.

Academic integrity means honesty and responsibility in scholarship.
Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.
Watch this video

These are important because people should be responsible enough to do their own work; you should respect someone's work the way you would like your's to be respected. Other people take there time to do their work and it would be unfair to copy their's. If you plagiarize you can be punished because it is illegal. For example if you do a college paper from someone else's you can be expelled from that college. You can also not receive a grade for that work.

Blog Post1: What is a blog?

A blog is a website or personal webpage where an individual records opinions, links and other sites. I do not follow any blogs. Blogging can help me to document what I  have leaned in the class and also help others to understand things I did and help me to understand things from others.

My topic of interest is modelling.
4 blogs that I found were:
http://modelmentors.com/
http://www.amodelrecommends.com/
http://www.refinery29.com/beauty-the-blog-models-who-wor this is my favorite because it talks about the type of modelling that I am interested in. The runway/catwalk is what I would hopefully like to be involved in my future.
